Telhio Credit Union employees and members welcomed visitors
to the Ohio State Fair while contributing to Ronald McDonald House Charities of
Central Ohio (RMHC) at the same time.
Between July 8 and July 22, Telhio customers donated wish
list items to RMHC in exchange for free tickets to the Ohio State Fair. This
promotion, combined with items collected at the gate during Telhio State Fair
Day on July 28 in exchange for discounted tickets, resulted in the collection
of seven pallets of items for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House which
will save RMHC more than $60,000 in expenses.
The wish list items collected included ready-to-eat meals,
plastic zipper baggies, trash bags, aluminum foil, and canned food.
Additionally, as part of its participation in the Ohio State
Fair, Telhio was a presenting sponsor in The Ohio State University College of
Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences Dean's Charity Steer Show -
raising $260,000 during this one-day event on August 2 that paired celebrities
with 4-H families to "show" a steer.
"All told, through these three activities alone, our
employees and members have helped provide an astounding 15,000 nights at the
Ronald McDonald House for families who have a child with a long-term illness or
injury," said Leslie Bumgarner, President/CEO. "At a time when they are facing
such stress - we have helped give families a home away from home."
"It is always great to spend a day at the Ohio State Fair but
it's even better when it benefits Ronald McDonald House," said Jessica Bing,
Chief Communication Officer at Telhio Credit Union. "We take our partnership
with RMHC very seriously and it was awesome to see so many Telhio members do so
much good for Ronald McDonald House while also getting to enjoy everything our
state fair has to offer."
