COLUMBUS, Ohio (August 25, 2024) Telhio Credit Union employees
welcomed visitors to the Ohio State Fair while coordinating a substantial
donation, alongside Telhio members, to Ronald McDonald House Charities of
Central Ohio (RMHC).
Throughout July, Telhio Credit Union members and local
community members donated wish list items to RMHC in exchange for free tickets
to the Ohio State Fair. This promotion, combined with items collected at the
gate during Telhio's Day at the Fair on August 2, resulted in the accumulation of
7,750 donations for families residing at the Ronald McDonald House in Columbus.
The wish list items included canned food, disposable
dinnerware, paper goods, and condiments.
"Telhio's Day at the Ohio State Fair has become more than a
tradition for our employees and members," said Nick Biratsis, Vice President of
Marketing at Telhio. "It's a mission we take very seriously and hope to improve
upon every year. When we accept the opportunity of collecting items for RMHC,
we recognize those items are delivered to families who are going through
tremendously stressful situations. Every year, our members and community step
up and contribute, and we thank them for their generosity."
Additionally, as part of their participation in the Ohio
State Fair, Telhio participated in The Ohio State University College of Food,
Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences Dean's Charity Steer Show on July 30.
The steer show included 11 teams comprised of a team captain paired with a
media partner, 4-H members and their steer. Participants donated their time to
raise money and compete for bragging rights in front of a large crowd of
supporters.
"The 2024 Dean's Charity Steer Show was a major success. Over
$230,000 was raised for Ronald McDonald House Charities; nearly $50,000 more
than last year," said Biratsis. "The funds raised will profoundly impact the
House, helping to provide 206 rooms every night for families with critically
ill children. We believe in supporting youth and agriculture in a way that
involves the community and lends support to families in need. Everyone wins
when this event succeeds."
"Telhio is more than a donor for the House," said Dee
Anders, CEO, RMHC. "Telhio is an invested, engaged partner, helping us to
strategically grow our impact. From the Dean's Charity Steer Show to
Telhio/RMHC Day at the Fair and their ongoing volunteer work with our
organization, we are so fortunate to have a long-term collaboration with Telhio
Credit Union and are excited to see what we can continue to do together in the
future."
